To boot CoreELEC for the first time, one the following techniques can be used:

Terminal | Boot to Android, install Jackpal's Terminal Emulator for Android. Insert CoreELEC boot media, open a terminal and enter reboot update . |
Reset Button | Also called the “toothpick method”. Disconnect the power supply, insert boot media, push and hold the reset button while connecting the power. Wait until the CoreELEC logo appears, then release the reset button. NOTE: On some devices, the reset button is located inside the AV port, requiring a toothpick, paperclip or small screwdriver to press the button. |
Menu Button | This method has been reported to work with some devices. Disconnect the power supply, insert boot media, push and hold the menu button on the remote control while reconnecting the power supply. Wait until the CoreELEC logo appears, then release the remote button. |
Update | This method has been reported to work with some devices. Create or place an empty update.zip file in the root folder of the SD Card or USB Flash Drive. In Android goto Settings ⇒ About Device ⇒ Local Update . Select update.zip |
Recovery_#01 | Boot into Android, insert boot media and choose reboot to recovery. |
Recovery_#02 | If the device has an “Update” app pre-installed, open it, insert boot media, and choose any ZIP file in the app for update. |
