This section covers the installation of CoreELEC on Generic devices

Android 7.1 or greater is required to install CoreELEC

Even though CoreELEC works fine with 1Gb of memory, 2Gb or more are recommended for smooth playback of UHD content.

Installation

This section covers the installation of CoreELEC to External Media such as SD Card or USB Flash Drive.

To create a bootable Class 10 (μ)SD Card or a USB Flash Drive:

  1. Download the latest CoreELEC .img.gz file
  2. Use Disk Image Writing Software to write the downloaded file to the (μ)SD card or USB flash drive
  3. Browse to the Device Trees folder on the (μ)SD card or USB flash drive, and:
    1. copy the correct .dtb image file for the device to the root folder of the (μ)SD Card or USB Flash Drive, then:
    2. rename it to dtb.img
  4. Use a Boot Method to boot CoreELEC from (μ)SD Card or USB Flash Drive
