Vendor Support

CoreELEC is a non-profit, open-source project maintained by a collective of volunteers (Team CoreELEC).

Since CoreELEC is intended for non-commercial use, financial contributions are turned down.

Vendors wanting to use CoreELEC for commercial purposes are required to obtain Team CoreELECs approval prior to doing so.

Vendors wishing to receive official support from Team CoreELEC need to meet following minimum requirements:

Communication between the Vendor and Team CoreELEC is key to providing the results and support required. For this reason a Vendor liaison is to be assigned to Team CoreELEC. Team CoreELEC uses Slack, a business messaging app, to work as one unified team.

To develop and maintain source code or provide support, Team CoreELEC needs physical access to the hardware. Therefore the Vendor is required to make a to be negotiated amount of devices available to the developers and testers at no cost, while also covering any applicable customs, import and other taxes or charges when sending these devices to the participating team members.

Team CoreELEC requires the Vendor to commit to the development cycle by providing access to source code as required. Since CoreELEC is an open source project, Team CoreELEC is unable to sign Non Disclosure Agreements (NDA).

Supported Vendors wanting to be mentioned on our webiste are required to provide Team CoreELEC with consent for using their Vendor Logo.

Vendors interested in receiving official support by Team CoreELEC may submit a request to team@coreelec.org

Supported devices

Vendors wishing to receive official support from Team CoreELEC need to meet following minimum requirements:

Distribution

Terms and Conditions for the distribution of CoreELEC:

  1. The pre-installed version of CoreELEC must remain unmodified. Any additional software needing to be included in the bundle, requires prior approval by Team CoreELEC.
  2. Vendors must clearly indicate their hardware is:
    • sold with CoreELEC pre-installed, and
    • CoreELEC is excluded from the price.
  3. The price of hardware with CoreELEC pre-installed must be equal or less to the price of same hardware sold with the manufacturer's Operating System pre-installed.
  4. Any changes to the pre-installed CoreELEC software, or its installation medium, are to be approved by Team CoreELEC prior to release.
  5. A copy of any documentation included in the bundle explicitly dealing with the installation, setup, or use of CoreELEC, must be provided to Team CoreELEC for review prior to inclusion.
  6. Despite any other (pre-)existing agreements, vendors selling hardware with CoreELEC pre-installed are required to provide a liaison.
  7. Team CoreELEC reserves the right to request a sample of the hardware and media that comes pre-installed with CoreELEC.
