What is CoreELEC

CoreELEC is a Just enough OS Linux distribution, combining cutting edge hardware support with a small disk and memory footprint while providing an efficient, elegant and non-destructive solution to deliver a complete Kodi Entertainment Center experience for Android-based set-top boxes using the ARMv8.x-A platform with Android 7.1 or greater pre-installed.

CoreELEC will give you the best possible multimedia experience by supporting most of the commonly used video and audio formats.

This project offer support for a wide range of Amlogic SoC start with GXB, S905 till newest T7, A311D2 (2024). Please follow the Development Status of CoreELEC to find the best matching project for your Amlogic device.

CoreELEC supports a wide range of video formats through its hardware decoder, including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, H.263, MPEG-4 SP and ASP, MPEG-4 AVC (H.264), H.265, HuffYUV, Indeo, MJPEG, RealVideo, RMVB, Sorenson, WMV, Cinepak, AV1 and VP9.

Audio formats supported include MIDI, AIFF, WAV/WAVE, AIFF, MP2, MP3, AAC, AACplus (AAC+), Vorbis, AC3, DTS, ALAC, AMR, FLAC, Monkey's Audio (APE), RealAudio, SHN, WavPack, MPC/Musepack/Mpeg+, Shorten, Speex, WMA, IT, S3M, MOD (Amiga Module), XM, NSF (NES Sound Format), SPC (SNES), GYM (Genesis), SID (Commodore 64), Adlib, YM (Atari ST), ADPCM (Nintendo GameCube) and CDDA.

In addition, CoreELEC allows you to passthrough lossless audio formats such as Dolby Digital (AC3), Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3), DTS, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD, Dolby Atmos, DTS-X and DTS-HD MA.
