CoreELEC for Homatics

These instructions explain how to install and boot CoreELEC on supported Homatics devices from USB media by use of a Windows PC. The instructions can easily be adapted for other Operating Systems.

  • Homatics Box R 4K Plus
  • Dune Homatics Box R 4K Plus
  • Nokia 8010

Requirements

  • Personal Computer with Internet Access
  • Image Writing Software
  • PC with Microsoft Windows
  • USB Flash Drive (for boot media)

Preparation

  • Visit the CoreELEC website
  • Select a version to download
  • The Download Helper will pop up
  • Select Skip that and just show me all download options
  • Download the generic image (CoreELEC-Amlogic-ne.arm-xxx-Generic.img.gz)
  • Write the downloaded image to a USB Flash Drive

Installation

  • Copy the device tree from the device tree folder on the USB Flash Drive to the root of the USB Flash Drive
  • Rename the device tree dtb to dtb.img
  • Insert the USB Flash Drive into the devices USB slot
  • Boot the device using the reset button method

If the reset button method doesn't work:

Install CoreELEC to eMMC

This option is not supported to keep Android Verified Boot available for Android. AVB will be need like for Netflix L1 hardware decoder support.
